Preferred Subjects:Calculus, SAT Math, Trigonometry, Algebra, Geometry, General Math, and Differential Equations
Experience:I have tutored geometry, algebra II, pre-calculus, and algebra I in the past. I am qualified to tutor calculus and other advanced math as well. In high school I scored a 790 on the math SAT II level C test. My strengths are that I have tutored many of these subjects in the past (for a tutoring company based out of Potomac, Maryland called Peer2Peer tutors, as well as on my own for neighborhood students), and I feel that I am very good with math. I really enjoy tutoring, and as a math student I feel that it is a rewarding experience for both the tutor and the student. I'm majoring in math, so in my first two years of college I have taken, and kept extensive notes of the following courses:
Math 114: Multivariable Calculus
Math 202: Introduction to Analysis
Math 240:Linear Algebra, Vector Calculus, Ordinary Differential Equations
Math 241: Fourier Analysis, Partial Differential Equations, Complex Analysis
Math 360/361: Advanced Calculus/ Real Analysis
Math 370: Abstract Algebra
Math 350: Elementary Number theory
Much of this material is familiar because I have covered it in the last two years, but I am also quite familiar with the basics as well. This is because I have recently tutored young students in basic topics, and because you cannot learn advanced math topics without a good understanding of the basics.
Last summer, I interned at the National Institutes of Health where I worked along side medical researchers. As a mathematics intern, I used linear differential equations to model complex biological systems. This summer, I will be working along side Professor Peter Storm of University of Pennsylvania. We will be exploring an area of math known as differential geometry.
Hobbies:I am on the track team here at the University of Pennsylvania so I enjoy running and exercise a lot. I think it's really a great way to clear your head and relieve stress. Also, I love sports and spending time with friends and my four younger brothers.
